Our thoughts on the project:

Our client was hugely underwhelmed with this cottage, upon purchase and we were tasked with changing this perception by developing a home suitable for modern living, on a relatively tight budget.
The transformation begins upon entry to the house, by inserting a modern open treaded stair that allows the light to penetrate deep into the house.
The ground floor of the house was conceived as a single space, broken into more intimate spaces to live, cook, eat and work by a large joinery wall.
As the site footprint was small we wanted to maximise the sense of space by connecting the rear extension with the garden by way of corner glazed extension. The perforated brick screens had the added function of helping to screen the interior from neighbouring properties.
