Material Sample Board

A small material palette consisted of handmade clay tiles, textured sand cement render, powder coated aluminium cladding and glass.

Handmade clay tiles are proposed as a material appropriate for use both as a roof and a wall cladding. This material helps establish a sense of place by creating a relationship with the tone and materiality of the existing house whilst making reference to the history of Tyler Hill as a historic medieval centre for pottery and tile industries.
