A 315 sqm new build coastal holiday home located on the cliffs of Polzeath, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Appointed as architect, project manager and interior designer we were tasked to design and deliver a ‘striking and playful contemporary holiday home’ that utilised the site’s great potential and coastal location by offering a site-specific response to maximise the seaward views and provide all the provisions needed for a sea side holiday home.
Split over 3 storeys, the 5 bedroom house provides direct external access from every level. The first floor open plan living space offers panoramic views of the coastline, with a games room located on the lower ground floor which leads out onto the garden.
The client was keen to explore a range of both architectural and playful interior features and combine this with their desire for a distinctively contemporary building form.
Sustainability was a key feature to the project and has been an underlying theme throughout the design and construction process. The highly insulated air tight house is fitted with renewable technologies such as a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system (MVHR) and an air source heat pump to ensure the highly performing sustainable home has a significantly low operational energy demand.
