A new-build house constructed on the side garden of a 1960s house in a suburb of Oxford after successful negotiation with the planning department. The brief was to make the most of the restricted plot and create a home full of light, connected to the garden at the rear and mature Silver Birch trees to the front throughout the seasons, whatever the weather. It took cues from the midcentury modern tenants adopted by the existing terrace of houses and added contemporary devices to reflect 21st century living. The result is a house that feels much larger than its 105m2 thanks to clever use of levels, a sculptural open tread stair and playful built-in furniture,
