The Gin Distillery

The Gin Distillery, a conversion from a Victorian brewery building to a family home, was delivered by Joe in his previous practice. The site was heavily constrained, hemmed in on two sides and heavily overlooked by flats on another. The main challenge was getting light and air into the plan, while not compromising the privacy of the family home.

The Gin Distillery project has been celebrated for its natural light and restrained but characterful material palette. It was awarded a RIBA London Award in 2018 and subsequently shortlisted for the RIBA House of the Year Award 2018.
