This project focused on transforming a family home by maximising space, light, and connection to the outdoors. The design follows the existing pitched roof volume, utilising as much floor-to-ceiling height as possible to create a sense of openness. The rear garden wall is fully glazed, divided into three equal sections: two sliding doors and a window seat, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor living. A frameless skylight to the south adds a playful touch, casting dynamic light patterns that change throughout the day and across the seasons.
Inside, a carefully curated colour palette of greys, navy, and natural wood tones creates a harmonious balance between minimalism and warmth. The use of microcement flooring, which extends from the kitchen area out to the garden, visually connects the interior and exterior spaces, enhancing the feeling of flow and continuity.
The kitchen and dining area are separated from the living room by two sliding Crittall doors on either side of a central supporting wall. These doors allow for flexible use of the space while ensuring natural light floods into the living room.
The renovation dramatically increased the family’s main living space, with a new ground-level kitchen and dining area that opens onto the garden. The result is a peaceful, light-filled retreat that feels a world away from the city, offering a perfect balance of modern design and family-friendly functionality.
