Replacing the original family house, this commission for a new country house is approximately 10,000 square feet and constructed from Cotswold ashlar stone and local rubble stone from the client’s quarry. It is designed in the spirit of an eighteenth century country house with later nineteenth century alterations. It is a compact, formal square plan, with a central staircase hall lit by a glazed cupola. Internally we designed the marble and stone fireplaces, timber staircases, decorative plasterwork, mahogany bookcases and the painted timber panelled dining room and fireplace.
