The brief for this project was to reconfigure the rear of the Edwardian townhouse within the Hollygrove Conservation Area in Peckham. The existing extension is poorly configured and provides a small kitchen and limited additional living space.
The extension has a very contemporary aesthetic. A cream brick plinth supports bleached douglas fir cladding with douglas fir clad sliding doors and casement windows and ventilation. Internally this pared back aesthetic is continued through the use of bleached exposed douglas fir structure, polished concrete and light natural stone.
Hidden LED's provide discreet ambient lighting and large rooflights to the side pitch flood the dining area with natural light and bring light deep into the rear library room of the existing house.
Planning permission was granted in mid 2020 and construction was completed in mid 2022.
