The project is a summer house in a woodland just north of Mt. Fuji.
The client’s brief was for a house that gives a sense of closeness to nature, which is difficult to get in their day to day life in Tokyo.
It is designed as a red cottage, a typical Scandinavian summer house, but with an architectural language influenced by traditional Japanese architecture.
Ultimately, the shape and form of the building is a response to local construction techniques and climate.
