Green Belt Bungalow remodelling

This replacement dwelling presented a planning challenge given its Green Belt location. The process required a series of Permitted Development and Planning Applications with the end result effectively being an entirely new dwelling.

The proposed house aims to tie itself to its rural location through materiality and a focus on site views. An understated flint wall faces the road, through which an entrance way leads to a lofty atrium. From here there are views straight through to the ancient forest at the bottom of the site.

The living space was designed to be open plan with large areas of glazing and each bedroom was designed to have its own private garden space within the context of the wider landscape.
