It is understood that the courtyard space played a critical role in traditional architecture of Ghana. Courtyard was not only an empty space but the centre of activity in both private and public buildings. The challenge was to find intelligent way of realising courtyard space to fit into contemporary life style. Houses are placed offset to create two separate outdoor space to be shared. Garden space and swimming pool. We consider these as shared space that bridges two families and encourage larger events to take place. Living spaces are more protected in order for each family to enjoy their own time without too much disruption. This can also be shared in case of large event by opening up the whole front facade, breaking inside and outside boundary.
