The project encompasses a ground floor extension for a new kitchen and utility space, as well as extensive remodelling and refurbishment at ground, first floor, and the garden.
The existing house is a grand detached Victorian villa. The street elevation has an original metal veranda and decorative contrasting brickwork in red and yellow stock bricks. The existing garden elevation is elegant but less ornate. The proposals seek to bring elements of the street front to the rear of the house.
The brickwork for the extension was carefully chosen to match the red bricks from the front the of house and a crisp, new veranda and screen in weathering steel are a contemporary take on the veranda.
The extension is raised up from the garden level allowing for generous steps leading down to the al fresco dining area, patio and lawn.
Internally, two reception rooms have been knocked though and link to the new kitchen. Generous sliding glass doors and a window seat provide flowing space and views to the garden. A new patio area and bespoke oak benching has been designed around existing planting to provide a shaded outside dining area.
