The alteration works to the Grade II Listed house, built in a local sandstone, included an extension of the post war wing to provide improve first floor accommodation, the rationalisation of the accommodation on the ground floor and a new single storey extension to provide a new Morning Room.
The extension to the existing post war wing of the house has been built in stone, coursed carefully to blend seamlessly with the existing stonework to the house. The position of the new single storey Morning Room extension was carefully considered so as to limit the height of the building and contain it carefully within the existing courtyard. The joinery to the new library, laundry and Morning Room are a bespoke design that transforms the new rooms. The overall design utilises existing materials and the details preserve the local distinctiveness of the property.
